Hauling Ash Firewood By Toboggan

Having just bought our 22 Acres on West Branch and Franklin Brook, here in Bear River, in August, we haven’t yet obtained a Tractor or Wheeler. Yet, we need wood. We have about 4-5 cords of well seasoned wood, but still want to add to it. One Tree that can be cut, and basically burnt the same day, is Ash. The challenge can be getting it out without having any equipment. So, knowing there would be at least some snow this Winter, we bought a second hand Toboggan this past Fall. Today I started putting it to work! I cut and fell 40’ Ash Tree, as well as a few smaller ones. Cut them up into Approx 6’ lengths and began hauling them out, tied on the Toboggan. It actually worked quite well, even letting me put the chainsaw on the load.
